SUMMARY:
We are assisting a top-rated construction firm in Boston with their search for a contract to hire Project Accountant . The Project Accountant plays an essential role in the success of company's progress by ensuring billings are issued and collected, approving expenses and identifying variances in cost. A minimum contract commitment of three months is required for this position.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Accountant will be responsible for:
Reviewing and approve project-related expenses
Identifying variances and present findings to management
Maintain contracts and change orders
Advise on status of funding per project to mitigate any risk for overages
Generate all billings and invoices and ensure timely payment from vendors; review and approve any write offs as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify for the role of Project Accountant, the ideal candidate will possess:
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
3-5 years' experience in project-based accounting in a similar environment (construction, architecture, engineering or design firms preferred); knowledge of government contracts a huge plus
Proficient in one or more industry-specific accounting software, such as Deltek
Advanced MS Office skills, including a high level of knowledge in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, SUMIF formulas)
Immediate available to start a contract role and commit for a minimum of three months
