Project Accountant

job summary:

SUMMARY:

We are assisting a top-rated construction firm in Boston with their search for a contract to hire Project Accountant . The Project Accountant plays an essential role in the success of company's progress by ensuring billings are issued and collected, approving expenses and identifying variances in cost. A minimum contract commitment of three months is required for this position.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and approve project-related expenses

  • Identifying variances and present findings to management

  • Maintain contracts and change orders

  • Advise on status of funding per project to mitigate any risk for overages

  • Generate all billings and invoices and ensure timely payment from vendors; review and approve any write offs as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify for the role of Project Accountant, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field

  • 3-5 years' experience in project-based accounting in a similar environment (construction, architecture, engineering or design firms preferred); knowledge of government contracts a huge plus

  • Proficient in one or more industry-specific accounting software, such as Deltek

  • Advanced MS Office skills, including a high level of knowledge in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, SUMIF formulas)

  • Immediate available to start a contract role and commit for a minimum of three months
