Our client is a leader in equity and index options technology and analytics, is actively seeking a top-notch software engineer with experience in the design and implementation of large scale, high volume data systems.

location: Chicago, Illinois

salary: $120,000 - 130,000 per year

work hours: 8am to 5pm

education: Bachelors

responsibilities:

  • We design, develop, deploy, and support data systems that power real-time and batch analytics for major financial institutions, as well as professional and retail traders.

  • We store every quote and every trade message with care.

  • We architect systems that deal with millions of events per second and billions of events per day.

  • We develop and apply sophisticated mathematical models to our data in real-time and in historical context.

  • We optimize for increases in data volumes.

  • We live and breathe automation. We are analytical thinkers.

  • We are always learning our craft.

qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

  • Advanced Python and/or Java. Ideally both or a strong desire to learn the missing skill.

  • Experience developing with, operating and tuning applications within Hadoop ecosystem as well as relational databases (MySQL preferred).

skills:

  • Production experience with large data sets.

  • Desire and ability to lead and take ownership of projects and systems.

  • Experience with Linux and Windows systems.

  • Passionate about data and automation.

  • Equity and index options industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.

  • Advanced Python and/or Java. Ideally both or a strong desire to learn the missing skill.
