responsibilities:

Responsibilities

  • Under the leadership of the Director, work with a variety of key stakeholders, both lawyers, professionals and business services staff, to support the development of profitable pricing solutions in response to client RFPs and informal pricing requests.

  • Undertake detailed financial analysis in relation to and in support of the development of pricing options in response to client requests.

  • Provide leadership in the development and evaluation of alternative fee arrangements, with appropriate consideration of quantitative and qualitative criteria.

  • Maintain data and analyses for future use in planning and reporting.

  • Demonstrate a broad and comprehensive knowledge of rate structures, discount arrangements and alternative fee arrangements.

  • Advise and educate attorneys on the potential risks and reward of non-standard fee arrangements.

  • Ensure fee proposals are consistent with strategic goals and appropriately capture value.

  • Conduct detailed post matter financial analysis with the aim of utilizing historical matter data and related insight to assist in the pricing of future matters and improving financial performance.

  • Develop and proliferate best practices, tools, templates, and reference materials across the firm's client portfolio.

  • Partner with business development/marketing, practice management, finance, conflicts/risk, and other departments to identify and deploy operational best practices.

  • Deliver excellent customer service in response to lawyer, professional and client requests.

qualifications:

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or equivalent. MBA and/or JD preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience with demonstrated growth in scope of responsibilities, ideally within a law firm or professional services organization.

  • Minimum 4 years of specific strategic financial, pricing analysis, reporting and/or project management experience in a law firm or a professional services firm with advanced knowledge of the legal industry.

  • Strong commercial / business acumen, with the ability to understand the larger context surrounding pricing approaches and translate those into a body of knowledge that helps shape the Firm's pricing strategy.

  • Proficient in financial modelling and spreadsheet functionality is required. Must be able to manipulate data effectively and present findings to management and attorneys.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects and complete work within given time constraints.

  • Detail oriented, exercise sound judgment and possess the confidence and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the Firm's senior management, lawyers, professionals and business staff.

  • Mature, self-motivated person with a positive, professional attitude, with a progressive, consistent work history and excellent references.

  • Possess ability to build relationships and foster a collaborative environment with all stakeholders.

  • Ability to recommend best practices to improve processes and procedures.

  • Communicate in a manner that demonstrates experience and a grasp of the strategic intent of a subject matter.
