Customer Service Supervisor

A rapidly growing, leading manufacturer of consumer and industrial products is looking for a Customer Service Supervisor to join their team in Columbia, MD. The position will be permanent, full-time working Monday - Friday. The Customer Service Supervisor will oversee the customer service team and the responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:


  • Manages customer service team effectively through supervision, training and mentoring

  • Completes annual performance evaluations for the team

  • Develops new sales and profit growth opportunities

  • Monitors, analyzes, reviews and reports on relevant sales and marketing activities and results

  • Obtains greater market share of existing accounts through effective customer outreach programs and strategic marketing campaigns

  • Collaborates with the sales team in defining, developing and implementing sales and marketing objectives and strategies

  • Reviews, reports and communicates customer compliance opportunities with respective plants

  • Develops sales presentations for national, regional and local accounts to include new products and product positioning strategies as well as deliverables i.e. sell sheets, package designs etc.

  • Engages in inside sales for seasonal items, when necessary

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


  • Experience in account management of major CPG retailers (e.g. Walmart, TSC, Petco) and national distributors (e.g. Central Garden and Pet, Hagen, Ace Hardware), preferred

  • Demonstrate experience using internet portals of national accounts (e.g. Wal-Mart Retail Link, GDSN, VIS)

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

  • High degree of initiative and independent execution






  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience in sales, marketing, communications or similar field

  • 3+ years prior Supervisory experience

  • Background in Manufacturing is highly preferred

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines

  • Some travel required (up to 25%)
