Continuous Improvement Manager

Direct Hire Opportunity - Go Permanent with ABC Technologies.

The Continuous Improvement Manager is primarily responsible for leading the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, reduce waste and deliver cost savings. Using the ABC Production System, this position will support the development of a lean mindset among all employees, thus, improving efficiencies in our operations through continuous improvement and standardized processes.Implement lean continuous improvement manufacturing processes for new products and improve systems for existing customers. Work with all departments and Managers to define the scope of improvement opportunities. All duties are carried out in the spirit of promoting a co-operative work environment where fairness, equity and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate change management throughout various stages of our lean journey so that continuous improvement and team work become the standard

  • Using the ABC Production System to support the development of lean mindset among your team which in turn develop the employees.

  • Conduct assessments of manufacturing operations to provide focused improvement opportunities to increase production efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, reduce lead times, increase quality and increase due date performance

  • Create educational programs to teach CI and Lessons Learned from existing work cells to Business Units and Project Engineers to facilitate long term improvement of manufacturing processes

  • Develop benchmarks, measurements, quantifiable benefits and track progress

  • Share accountability for improvements in operational efficiencies

  • Lead cross functional teams to implement continuous flow manufacturing and pull systems, 5S improvement, standard work, setup reduction, value stream mapping exercises, TPM implementation, visual s-standards

  • Utilize value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste

  • Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific process improvement goals and targets.

  • Assist site managers in completing annual reports and audit worksheets

  • Assist in coordination of CI/Cost Reduction initiatives

  • Coordinates CI tools, techniques and information; may respond to questions from operators, Team leaders, CI champions, managers and customers.

  • Assist in cost reduction proposals for yearly cost reduction targets.

  • Compiles communication on issues and its resolution.

  • Communicates with Operators, Team Leaders, CI Champions, Managers, and ABC Group Inc. on work assignments

  • Tracks and reports performance to plan on various CI projects.

  • Assists in distributing appropriate reports to others for analysis and corrective action.

  • Compiles reports and procedure manuals as needed.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:

  • Good understanding and extensive exposure to lean principles

  • Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Experience in coaching and training of lean principles and continuous process improvement

  • Ability to develop credibility with employees and management

  • Strong time management, multi-tasking and all round communication skills

  • A self-starter who is productive, takes initiative and seeks opportunities for improvement

  • An enthusiastic and energetic promoter of our lean philosophy

  • A strategic thinker

  • Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly

  • Well-organized, attentive to details, works well with minimal supervision

  • Flexibility to travel locally between GTA plants and internationally as required

Education:

Bachelors

Experience:

Manager

Qualifications:

  • Black Belt Certification

  • 2-3 years experience in the automotive/manufacturing industry. Knowledge of design, development and manufacturing processes.

  • Engineering Technologist or equivalent diploma, with experience in lean manufacturing would be considered an asset.

  • Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD
