Technical Writer

Contract position: A Technical Writer for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science is needed in the Goleta, CA area. This role will transcribe physical manufacturing practices (watch operator) into documented work instructions. No per diem is available. No travel is anticipated. 1st shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. OT is expected.

Responsibilities for the Technical Writer

  • Work with engineers and production operators to gather accurate information for work instructions. Simplify highly complex engineering/technical instructions for production operator level work instruction.

  • Create LEAN documentation that is clearly organized, standardize, simplified instructions, error-free, and grammatically correct.

  • Physical verify documented instructions with manufacturing practice for accuracy. Dvelop restricted formatted Microsoft office templates for users with little to no experience with office formatting knowledge.

Requirements for the Technical Writer

  • Associate's degree with a minimum of two years of technical writing and/or auditing experience.

  • Must have experience with document and production auditing, document control, and management.

  • Must have the ability to watch a process and then translate to a written procedure.
