Contract position: A Hardware Test Engineer for an American multinational corporation specializing in Internet-related services and products is needed in the Mountain View, CA area. This position will work closely with the engineering team in support of Reliability, R&D, product development, and production. Use state of the art equipment and techniques to test the reliability of products and materials. No per diem available. No travel is anticipated. 1st shift.
Responsibilities for the Test Engineer
Follow established reliability test procedures and perform various environmental and mechanical reliability testing, photographic documentation of test setup and results, and report generation.
Set up and run test equipment (Instron tensile/compression system, Optical/digital microscope, Environmental chambers, Corrosion chambers).
Perform mechanical testing including shock and vibration, surface durability, material characterization (tensile, compression, etc.) using a load frame, drop testing and tumble testing.
Requirements for the Test Engineer
Prefer a Bachelor's degree an engineering field. Prefer experience with Matlab, LabView, SolidWorks, or other CAD package.
At least 2 years of experience in a testing lab or manufacturing with mechanical (some electrical) component / system testing.
Experience with chemical testing and operating and troubleshooting electronic equipment in a lab environment.
