Project Coordinator

job summary:

The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for partnering with the client site personnel from various departments to carry out day-to-day EHS tasks, develop site SOPs, track and manage EHS site metrics, and be responsible for site Occupational Health and Safety programs. This position will be responsible for overseeing and executing overall site EHS compliance activities and contribute to site strategic EHS reviews.

The EHS Coordinator must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. The EHS Coordinator will be required to possess excellent OSHA regulatory and program knowledge, keen Biosafety awareness, and demonstrates this expertise when working with site Research and Development teams, facilities team, and operations personnel.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop policies, initiatives, procedures and training to ensure compliance with ever evolving Federal, State and Local EHS related regulations.

  • Assist with managing third party vendor relationships including hazardous waste haulers, consultants and other service vendors, to ensure compliance with legal requirements while achieving efficient, cost effective services.

  • Provide 'single-point of contact' to various site teams for understanding existing and developing EHS related regulations and clients EHS SOPs.

  • Lead incident investigations and EHS audits of Research and Development labs and facilities mechanical spaces.

  • Determine opportunity for human organization performance activities that may build on client's speak up safety culture.

  • Facilitate and expand Clients 'Safety Comments' program that aims to enhance employee engagement.

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing EHS Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) activities.

  • Provide EHS guidance and oversight to all Client groups and departments as needs arise.

  • Develop/collect and ensure the timely assembly of site EHS performance metrics.

  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and administer multiple complex & technically complex assignments concurrently.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years' EHS experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

  • CSP, CIH or CHMM preferred.

Education

  • B.S. in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field required. M.S. preferred.

Competencies

  • A thorough understanding of all applicable regulatory requirements including, but not limited to EPA, OSHA, NFPA, DOH, FDA and DEC, DEEP, EEA

  • Ability to demonstrate influence and collaboration across all levels within a site.

  • Working knowledge of building mechanical systems supporting office, manufacturing, and research and laboratory operations.

  • Must maintain confidentiality.
