Staff Accountant

job summary:

Staff Accountant - Philadelphia

My client has an immediate need for an experienced Staff Accountant for their Philadelphia office. They are someone who can assist in monthly/quarterly adjusted EBITDA analysis, quarterly forecast/long range plans, and be involved in the annual budget process. The Staff Accountant will support various accounting functions such as AR, AP, Payroll, Cost Accounting, Property Accounting, General Accounting, etc,. Due to the direct communication senior leadership across multiple divisions, this is a high exposure position with huge opportunity for growth. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and the ability to work well within a team. Public Accounting experience is a major plus.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reconcile various monthly corporate accrual and expense accounts.

  • Perform all accounting and analysis for legal and professional fees.

  • Prepare journal entries, supporting schedules, month-end and year end reconciliations and other activities related to maintaining the general ledger.

  • Establishes and maintains property accounting records. Assists in the development and installation of accounting systems, cost accounting methods, procedures and controls.

  • Reviews the preparation of various financial statements, records and reports compiled by lower level accounting support personnel.

  • Help prepare the monthly financial statement package.

  • Ensure appropriate revenue recognition.

  • Research and reconcile all discrepancies.

  • Assist with annual and quarterly forecasting and close process

  • Interprets accounting data, analyzes reports and recommends action to be taken.

  • Maintain complex ledgers, reconciles and analyzes specific cost account ledgers.

Staff Accountant Job Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP

  • Minimum 2-3 years Accounting experience required Public Accounting experience ideal; MBA or CPA a plus

  • Business Degree with a concentration in Accounting preferred

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and passion for managing projects to conclusion on time

  • Effective time management skills; ability to multi-task and address unexpected immediate tasks

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; comfortable in a fast paced environment and ability to react quickly to changing priorities when necessary

  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivots, Index Match, etc.) preferred
