Senior Accountant

job summary:

Randstad Professionals is assisting a company with corporate headquarters in the Raleigh-Durham area in need of a Senior Accountant. This position will support all facets of month end close as well as financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing activities including preparing various general journal entries, calculate and record fixed asset depreciation and prepaid expense amortization, record accrual and allocation journal entries

  • Monitor bank activity daily, apply cash receipts and record bank transactions

  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports for several business units

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, research and resolve variances

  • Reconcile bank accounts

  • Review profit and loss accounts and analyze actual to budget variances

  • Prepare documentation for external auditors

  • Assist with establishing and documenting SOP

  • Work closely with other functional areas and business units to resolve issues

  • Ad-hoc reporting and other projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance

  • At least 2 years related experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is required

  • Proficient in Excel (v-lookup formulas, pivot tables, macros)

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
