Maintenance Mechanic

This position is a mid-level position responsible for basic maintenance tasks pertaining to the upkeep of all of the equipment in the plant as well as outside the plant. Some knowledge of air, hydraulics and electrical will be required. The ability to learn how to read diagrams and follow-through with repairs is also critical to this role.

Responsibilities:

• repairs of all plant equipment/maintenance

• basic trouble-shooting of hydraulics and air

• basic electrical knowledge

• basic understanding of blueprints/diagrams

• change motors and replace bearings

• replace belts

• change tubes

• oil and grease equipment

• clean water treatment pit including changing filters and maintaining pumps

• replace cutter blades

• assist senior mechanics

• perform preventative maintenance in a timely and efficient manner

• maintain necessary equipment records and work orders

• perform other duties as assigned

Working hours: 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM

• strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills

• ability to read and understand hydraulic system schematics

• ability to properly use normal and special tools of the trade

• ability to work standing and walking for the majority of the assigned work period

• ability to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk and reach above the shoulder

• ability to exert 50-75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force constantly

Experience:

Entry Level

Qualifications:

• high school diploma or experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing environment

• degree from trade/vocational school preferred

• 3+ years of experience working with industrial food equipment
