Research Scientist

job summary:

  • Develop and support the computational infrastructures for cancer multi-omics data analyses including web applications, pipelines and databases.

  • Support and develop features for an established web-based analytical platform called VIP.

  • Integrate, curate and load data from cancer multi-omics studies into the backend databases.

  • Develop data analysis tools to support data mining efforts in clinical, pharmaco- and functional genomics.

  • Collaborate with computational biologists/scientists to develop innovative data analysis methods and pipelines.

  • Contribute to manuscript and publications.

  • This position will be part of the Oncology Computational Biology group and will have frequent interactions with the following groups:o Oncology Translational Research (OTR)o Tumor Cell Biology (TCB)o Translational Oncology, Global Product Development (GPD)o Research Business Technology (RBT)


  • Master Degree in bioinformatics, computer science or related discipline (or bachelor with equivalent working experience).

  • Skills and experiences with web application development e.g. R-Shiny, JavaScript, JSON.

  • Strong programming skill in one or more of the following languages: R, Perl, Python.

  • Skills and experiences with databases e.g. Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB.

  • Experience developing bioinformatics analysis pipelines preferred.

  • Experience working with cancer genomics data e.g. CCLE and TCGA preferred.
