Machine Operator

Company located in Spartanburg seeking machine operator for a temp to hire position. The machine operator safely and effectively performs the essential functions of the position to produce high quality, aerospace grade carbon fiber, while continuously improving the process. High School




  • Safely and efficiently start-up, operate, monitor, control, and shutdown PAN fiber manufacturing equipment so intermediate and finished products consistently meet internal and external customer requirements and expectations.

  • Ensure proper operating conditions and optimum capacity

  • Understand how PAN or PITCH fiber manufacturing equipment and process parameters affect intermediate and finished product properties and characteristics. Troubleshoot PAN or PITCH fiber manufacturing equipment and process problems to identify root causes and take corrective action to resolve problems

  • Recognize quality faults and make adjustments to ensure good quality - learn and demonstrate a good understanding of the process whereby potential problems are corrected before they develop into off spec product

  • Comprehend the process, analyze upsets, and make timely decisions with minimal assistance

  • Apply understanding of manufacturing processes, production schedules, and cost factors to make timely cost effective decisions

  • Perform routine maintenance as instructed to improve equipment reliability and process and product consistency

  • Perform material handling, properly packaging and labeling of intermediate or finished product for storage or shipment

  • Apply the appropriate process computing or desktop PC skills necessary for the work

  • Perform essential functions of one of various non-production activities including training, safety and environmental processes, quality lab, maintenance, area improvement teams, engineering support, or expert level functions within a production process

  • Perform the job in a team-based environment with minimum supervision

  • Take personal responsibility and build team accountability by taking action individually and as a group to continuously improve manufacturing equipment, products, and work processes.
