Controls Engineer

Permanent position: A prominent building products manufacturing company is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to work out of their Trenton, NJ area plant. They are looking for a candidate that can troubleshoot production equipment problems, experience designing capital projects (laying out production lines), and interfacing with OEM's. The candidate needs to be able to lay out production lines and modify /adjust PLC's. Experience writing PLC code is also a plus. The ideal candidate will also have some project management skills, and experience working with OEM's. This is an opportunity to work with a stable company and industry leader. Responsibilities for the Controls Engineer

  • Overseeing the electrical and controls engineering portion of capital projects, including cost, schedule, and resources (internal and external contractors), as well as participating on multi-functional teams in project execution

  • Coordinate efforts with outside vendors, OEM representatives, contractors, and technical services groups

  • Provide technical support to plant maintenance and operations to troubleshoot and solve production downtime issues

  • Approve electrical design and programming changes to production equipment prior to them being implemented on the plant floor

  • Direct final installation, testing, and start-up of new equipment.

Requirements for the Controls Engineer

  • Knowledgeable in developing control systems suitable for implementation in a manufacturing facility

  • PLC Troubleshooting

  • Engineering degree required
